Transfer students must submit an application for admission to the University along with all official college transcripts by the indicated scholarship deadline. Priority is given to transfer students who apply by June 1st. After the priority date, transfer scholarships are awarded on a funds available basis. Scholarships are renewable for one additional year with a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA at UM along with maintaining full time status (12 hours/semester).
The information listed below is in effect beginning with the 2020-2021 academic year. For scholarship information concerning current scholarship recipients, please refer to your scholarship award letter or contact the Office of Admissions.
- Transfer Academic Recognition Scholarship
$3,000 per year. Available to transfer students with a minimum 3.25 GPA and 30 transfer credit hours. The award cannot be combined with another transfer scholarship.
- Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
$6,000 per year. Available to junior and community college transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa. A minimum 3.00 GPA and 30 transfer credit hours are required for scholarship consideration. The award cannot be combined with another transfer scholarship.
- Anna Papanek Memorial Scholarship
Preference is given to community college transfer students. Awarded to a student majoring in accounting. The student must be classified as a junior or higher and maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher and majoring in accounting. The scholarship is renewable if the student maintains the required GPA and is majoring in accounting and may be received for a total of four semesters.
- ContinuUM Scholarship
$2,000 per year. Available to transfer students from partnering community colleges who have been enrolled in the continuUM program for at least two semesters. A minimum 2.00 GPA and 45 transfer credit hours are required for scholarship consideration. The award can be combined with the Transfer Academic Recognition and Transfer Minority Scholarships. The award cannot be combined with the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship.
- Out-of-State Scholarship
Pursuant to Alabama Code 16-64-2(b)(3) and Policy 03:100, resident tuition rates may apply to those full-time, undergraduate non-resident students receiving a partial or full scholarship award in recognition of a particular talent or ability, provided such student possessed the talent or ability at the time of initial enrollment and maintains continuous scholarship eligibility at UM. The UM Out of State Scholarship is valued at approximately $12,000 per year and puts the non-resident student at the in-state tuition rate. The Out of State Scholarship is renewable as long as the student meets the renewal criteria of the merit scholarship awarded.
